Update 2011: photo used as a mystery photo and identified the following:
We had two responses to the mystery photo this week. The May Day Fete was celebrated in the 1930’s and 1940’s. (It was listed on the calendar of events in the 1939 Rawlins High School Annual).
We were able to partially identify the people in the photograph, and we look forward to further responses from the community.
Starting at the top, (back row) on the upper level: The young woman with the white robe in the center is unknown, (possibly Betty Rendle); the attendant on photo left is identified as Catherine McDermott Koroulis; and the attendant on photo right of the “queen” is Kathleen MacKay; the woman next to her with hands folded in her lap is Mary Campbell; Anna Goffar is at the end of this row with Margueritte Miller Shaffer seated in front of her; the young lady with blond hair to the side front right of Margueritte is Barbara Peters.
On side left of photo, second row: The young lady with dark hair, wearing a white dress and a dark bolero style jacket has been identified as Mary Ellen Thompson.
Left to right on the front row: First girl is unknown; the next two girls have been identified as Phyllis and Doris Linke (fraternal twins). One caller believed the girl in the medium colored dress and lighter hair to be Alice Swanson, instead of Doris Linke. The fourth girl is Evelyn Rossman. The next woman and child are unknown, with Peggy Bates Johnson sitting between the first two little girls. Other girls in the row are unknown until 13th from left, and she is identified as Elaine Felton. Dorothy Hartt is seated next to her at photo right, with Jenny Hayes to her photo right ending the row.
Additional information provided stated Mary Campbell was actually Margaret and that Jenny Hayes was Ann Louise Hayes. In the left side of photo is Virgene Harding and possibly Jean Parker.Collection
