Description

A large professionally framed, gray and burgundy matted scanned copy print, and an original black and white print attached to gray matboard. Image shows a catttle roundup with three distinct groups of cattle in a desert area with small hills in background. There is a large group of cowboys on horseback at various locations. They are primarily located at front of cattle side right with a few located behind this group of cows at side right. The cowboy second from right on the far side of the cattle at side right is Edward Ordway, the roundup foreman. He is wearing white chaps and riding a light colored horse. There is an engraved brass mounted plate at center of lower mat that reads Carbon Co, WY 1883. Written on back of print 1883 Wyoming Roundup #21, Sweetwater Roundup. Ed Ordway, foreman. Sticker on back of frame reads: Diane's Frame Shop. Poor condition with extreme fading, and defects from the original showing on the copy. Streaks are visible and other discolorations are apparent. This original is located at stage right, Shelf 123, Box 2, 2010.1049.8.2. Black and white original copy print measures 6 1/4" x 8 1/4" and is attached to dark gray mat which has been irregularly cut off at all edges. This print was used to create the large framed print listed above. Written on back of the mat in black ink. Wyoming in 1883. the roundup on desert near Separation Carbon Co. Written in pencil: Wyoming in the 80 with the remaining word indecipherable. Written on front of print in pencil @ top edge of print: Wyoming in the early 1883 near Seperation (sic) cowboys at work. Written on the cardboard pack material "Carbon County Wyoming 1883 Grandpa Ordway and Billy Weaver only men wearing pearl colored chaps. Fair Condition. Extremely faded with irregular line throughout print. Black tape residue is a various locations on backside. Black smudges and black specks at various locations, scratches, and small nail holes at top and lower edge. Edges extremely worn with pieces of mat missing. Other defects not listed. Located in Slot 1.
