Description

A black and white unused postcard print of early day Rawlins downtown, showing a street with a wooden teepee shaped bonfire stack with dark smoke rising from it and seen in the sky at right. A large two wheel push hose cart is at far right A man wearing a slicker type coat is standing at right across the street surveying the fire. This display is located at a street intersection. There are large groups of people on both sides of the road. They are dressed in vintage clothing. The original Carbon County Courthouse is barely visible at background left, and Central School is seen at mid center, and the Elks stone building is on side right . An electrical thick line is extending across photo side left to side right in foreground. Printed on side left of back: O. C. Miller, Rawlins, WY On backside: Postcard is printed at top left; Correspondence at top side left; name and address side right; small decorative floral style icon top right corner with place stamp here vertically printed through design. Notes from Rans: U. P. Hose Co. No. 2 Bonfire in middle of the intersection of 5th and Buffalo streets looking N. E. toward Central School. Fair condition. Print is soiled, worn, and wrinkled in many areas. Corners are bent and creased. Tape remnant on back.
