Description

Cheyenne Frontier Days, UP Float in Parade, 1942. Update 2008: Black and white print. Snapshot. Image of the Union Pacific Railroad float with two women in arthurian style flowering gowns and crowns. Sign on side of float: "God Bless America, From the Mountains to the Prairies-To The Oceans White With Foam". Large shield logo at back of float with "Union Pacific" "the overland Route" printed on it. Mountain with train emerging from tunnel on near side of back. Women are standing on either side just forward of logo. American flag and eagle crested flag pole on far side of front. Man dressed in boots, dark slacks, medium colored longsleeve shirt and holding his hat is standing in foreground near front of float. Bumper of car towing float can be seen at center left. Large stone building partially obscured by trees and spectators can be seen in background. Written on back in blue ink: "Frontier Parade Buck Beechaman in foreground." Paper slightly curled and yellowed. Back soiled, darkened around edges. Liquid stain in lower right on emulsion surface. Corner damage upper and lower right corners bent-emulsion cracked.
