Description

A black and white photographic print. Image is a panoramic view that was originally 44 1/4" long x 6 1/4" high. (Now in a 23 3/4" piece and a 20 1/2" piece). Image shows a long horizontal group of men standing in front of a brick building with many vertical windows. The line of men is so long that they extend beyond the edges of the building. The back row of men is dressed in primarily suits and hats; men at the center are wearing evening coats and top hats and they have medallions hanging from a wide ribbon around their neck. There are other men dressed in various costumes and makeup in short horizontal rows in front of the other row. A man on a burro is at each end of the print. Various Elk Club banners are held by men as well as an United States Flag. Printed in white from negative process at lower center edge: Rawlins Lodge No 609 BPOE Craig, Colo May 27-29, 1922. Print is in poor condition as it had been rolled in a tight cylinder and held with a rubber band for years. It has vertical tears at intervals about every three inches, and tears at the corners with heavy soiling and other defects. Dry and brittle. It is in two pieces. Note: Print is placed in oversize Photos and Documents 2, Drawer 2
