Photo of William Daley at Ft. Phil Kearney where he erected a flag pole in 1866. We have two originals and two copies. Update - 2009: Black & white print of William Daley standing by flag pole at Fort Phil Kearney. There ate two originals and two copies of this print. Original Print 1. Measures 10 x 8", print attached to dark gray matboard. Photo shows William Daley standing by very high light column pole with his left hand holding onto a rope attached to pole. He is standing in a field with high foliage with rising hills in far background. Mr. Daley is wearing a three piece dark suit with a light high crown hat in his right hand at his side. He has a gray Prince Albert type mustache. Written on back in blue ink: The picture was taken in 1908 William Daley at the site of Ft. Phil Kearney where he erected a flag pole 1866. Daley collection of picture. Copied by State. Condition is good. Lightly soiled with unknown stains and smudges. Large scratch in print surface from left to right side inside lower edge. Some wear of mat edges. Soiling on backside. Original Print 2. Good condition, measures 6 1/4 x 8" attached to gray mat which has been cut down. Print is very soiled with smudges. Soiling includes dark flecks and streaks at top and side edges. Large scratch across center bottom of surface. Copy 1 (reprint) measures 5 x 7", good condition with anomalies on front. Copied from the original. soiling is from original. Few scratches in emulsion surface. Typed on a sticker on back side William Daley at the site of Ft. Phil Kearney where he erected a flag pole in 1866. Photograph taken in 1908. copy provided by Wyo. State Archives (Stamped on back). Copy 2 5 x 7", good condition, copy has few scratches in emulsion at various locations, surface has abrasions, fingerprints, few dark specks at the edges and center.
