Photo of the marker at Ft. Steele. It reads: Ft. Fred Steele, U.S. Military Post, June 30, 1868 to Aug. 7, 1886. Marked by the State of Wyoming in 1914.
Update - 2009: Black & white snapshot of a scalloped rectangular shaped granite looking monument that has been engraved. Reads "Fort Fred Steele U.S. Military Post June 30, 1868 to August 7, 1886 Marked by the State of Wyoming 1914". Monument is erected on a flat concrete? surface framed with lumber. A large building's edge is seen in background.
Good condition although has excessive wear with bent corners, top left corner is torn off. There are creases in emulsion and print surface with slight dimpling in other areas. Print has mottled appearance at various locations from unknown causes.
One black & white print of the marker. Engraved on marker is: "Fort Fred Steele U S Military Post June 30 1868 to August 7, 1886 Marked by the State of Wyoming 1914"
Written on back in black: "#3 P. E. Daley Collection No 18"
On white adhesive tag: "#Ft Steele"
Good condition. Top left corner creased, paper clip crease on top border, bottom corners bent, indent on right side center. Size 3 3/8 x 5 3/4"Collection
