A 3.5" x 2.5" Native American bird design belt buckle made of quill and sweetgrass with beaded highlights. The bird design is place in the middle of the front, composed of various shades of brown beads with white beads throughout and on the abdomen. The long beak is made from tan beads and the legs are even lighter tan beads. Background is cream and brown colored sweetgrass. Tiny brown beads encircle the bird and background. Braided quill surround the outside edge. Backing of belt buckle is soft leather with metal buckle and hook showing through to the outside. Donor stated that the modern buckle was purchased in Illinois, and that it was made by a Woodland tribe.Collection
