Description

Carbon County Museum photographs and slides (collection) taken throughout the years of the museum's existence of events, artifacts, workshops, and displays as well as photographs of ideas from other museums. The collection is organized by files which are listed alphabetically. File 1-Archives-includes photos of archive cabinets before archival project showing the disarray. File 2-Art-includes photos of various paintings, burnt wood pictures, and photograph display File 3-Artifacts 1-includes photos of museum's artifact collection, singly and groupings including textiles and objects--dolls, quilts, saddles, bedroom furniture, clocks, loom, commode set, Lillian Heath clothing and others, textiles, barb wire, organ, etc. File 4-Artifacts 2-includes photos of museum's artifact collection, singly and groupings including textiles and objects--tea set, china, needle work, bottles, derringer, dolls, marriage certificate, baskets, guns, swords, Tom Horn spurs, gauntlet glove File 5-Big Nose George-includes photos of the artifacts relating to Big Nose George including the shoes made by Dr. John Osborne and Big Nose George's skull. File 6- Big Nose George Slides-includes a group of colored slides of the shoes and skull (slides digitized) File 7-Buildings-includes photos of the moving of the Sweetwater schoolhouse, Carbon County Museum exterior, interior, and basement File 8-Car-includes black and white photograph of the Essex Racing Car and colored slides of the car File 9-Cemetery Map-includes digital photos of the cemetery map that is framed and in deteriorating condition File 10-Display Scenes 1-includes photos of the various museum displays throughout the years (including some of the Sun Collection which was removed) File 11-Display Scenes 2-includes photos of the various museum displays throughout the years (including some of the Sun Collection which was removed) File 12-Eagle Catching Ceremony Display 1-includes photos of the taxidermist in the various stages of building the eagle catching ceremony display. File 13-Eagle Catching Ceremony Display 2-includes photos and slides of the taxidermist in the various stages of building the eagle catching ceremony display. Photos in this folder were removed from an inappropriate book (not acid free) File 14-Eagle Catching Ceremony Display Open House, 1993-includes the "unveiling of the Eagle Catching Ceremony Display" celebration File 15-Events-includes photos of some of the various events held at the museum; Solar Eclipse Event of 2012 celebrating in honor of Thomas Edison. File 16-Firetruck-includes photos of the firetruck before it was restored??? File 17-Former Directors-includes photos of various former directors of the museum File 18-Ideas-includes photos of other museums exhibits for ideas File 19-Negatives-includes packets of negatives of people, places, artifacts, uncataloged File 20-Rans Baker Lectures, 2003-includes digital photos of people at Ran's lectures at the Ventling Center File 21-Spanish Trappings collection-includes slides and photos of the objects found in Bridle Bit Cave (slides digitized; see 1979.613) File 22-Stacy Glassburn's Going Away Party of 2000-includes photos of the event File 23-Training-Includes photos of Terri Schindel, Conservator, Estes Park, CO, conducting a training in mannequin making for all Carbon County Museums, 2005; Photos of various stages of mannequin making; Sharon Jones, Carbon County Museum employee sitting at table working, (double prints of all photos). File 24-Treks- includes photographs of unknown historical treks, possible Sulphur Springs, coke ovens at Piedmont, Wyoming Racing Downs, 1987; event on the old penitentiary grounds, Babbette Mathill and twirlers; a headstone with the last name Briley engraved, decaying log cabin, headstone with name, C. A. Loveset?, old wagon, frame house unpainted, frame house painted white, Fourth Street looking South towards depot. See signs for First Wyoming Bank, Ferris Hotel, Te-Ton Bar; Desert Area; interior of deteriorating cabin; log barn; horse racing scene, gravestones of C. A. Lovesey? Loveset? and P. Briley. All prints, negatives, and slides in good condition.
