Photo of first car in Rawlins. Driven by Dr. Osborne with William Heath in car and four indians surrounding the car. Update - 2009: Sepia print. Mounted on dark grey matboard. Image of two men in a vintage automobile and four indians wrapped in blankets. Tipi, tent and wagon in background. Indians have gathered around automobile and individual at right is leaning on the back of the automobile. Back end of a dog can be seen at his feet. Man in drivers seat is dressed in full suit, hat and gloves. Second man is in shirt sleeves, vest, dark pants, polka-dot tie and cap. Written on back in blue ink: "First "Horseless Carriage" in Rawlins about 1900. Dr. John Osborne at the wheel with W. A. Heath riding with him. Others in picture are Yellowtail, Nosleep, Shakispea and Yellow Eagle" "Copied by State". Written on back in black ink: " Mounted" Stamped on back in black ink: "Carbon County Museum Box 52 Rawlins, Wyoming 82301". Written in pencil on white adhesive label pasted on back: "Indians". Mounted on acidic matboard. Cut down from original size - edges rough & uneven. Yellowed pieces of adhesive tape on emulsion surface near lower left & lower right corners. Adhesive residue on mat back at center. Mat bent and emulsion cracked in lower left. Dents in emulsion near top of tipi. Emulsion surface scratched & soiled. Two 3 1/2 x 4 7/8 black & white copy prints. 1. Written on back in black ink: "First car in Rawlins. Driven by Dr. John Osborn[sic][Osborne]" One 8 x 20 black & white copy print. Written on back in black ink: "Dr. Osborne 1st auto in Rawlins 1903[.] W. A. Heath seated next to Dr. Osborne (Lillian Heath Nelsons[sic][ father[.] Yellowtail - 1st in line to L of auto(?female) NoSleep - 2nd in line to L of auto (?female) Shakispea in front of auto (?man) Yellow Eagle - at rear of auto (?man)" One 8 1/4 x 10 1/4 color scanned copy print. Printed in lower right corner: "Job 1788". Emulsion cracked along upper edge. One 3 7/8 x 4 7/8" black & white copy negative. One 4 x 5" black & white copy print. Stamped on back in black is smudge Carbon County Museum address. Very small dents in emulsion. Stored in Negative Box, Drawer 5 Update March 2011: One black & white copy print, size 8 x 10" Written on back in blue ink: "First "Horseless Carriage" in Rawlins about 1900.
