Photo of James France building as it originally stood with the France residence beside it in 1879. Update - 2009: Sepia print. Snapshot. Mounted on tan matboard. Image of a row of buildings with a dirt road in front. Sign on left-most building- "Bank." Group of people standing on boardwalk in front of buildings; wagon at right; wagon/buggy tongues & wheels at end of porch on building at right. Printed on back of matboard in grey ink: "M.D. Houghton, Photographer. All Kinds of Photographic work., Rawlins, WYO." Written on back: [pencil] "assorted scenes of Rawlins outdoor" [black ink] "James France building as it originally stood with the France residence beside it" [blue ink] "1879" "Front & 5th Streets" [red pencil] "copied by state" "page 29, pix 3 2 3/8 x 3 1/2 [pencil] "58%" [black ink] "and mounted" "1-Cg". Mounted on acidic matboard Cut down from original size - edges rough & uneven. Mat back missing in places; adhesive & white paper residue on back; transparent tape at top center of back. Writing on emulsion at bottom & upper right - has been erased. Emulsion soiled & scratched. One 5 x 7 black & white copy print. Written on back in black ink: "James France building as it originally stood with the France residence beside it - stood at Front & 5th Streets - Picture taken in 1879" Stamped on back in black ink: "Copy Provided by the State Archives and Historical Department". Writing from original print still partially visible, but not readable.
