Photo of John Childs. Update 2008: Black and white print with decorative gold scallop shaped edge on photos left and right side of oval. Photo shows a young man in right profile. He has medium dark hair with a side right part and close cut with his front hair going to left side. He has dark eyes. He is wearing dark jacket with high stiff white collar showing at neck edge with a patterned cravat at bottom neck edge. Condition good. Slight soiling, fingerprint marks, and smudges on top, bottom and side surfaces resulting in small black residue at these areas. Slight indentations at bottom left. Abrasions on emulsion show primarily center of print and right side with scratches in emulsion. Back of photo has orange paper residue as well as soiled. Top and bottom mat has been cut off. Written in black ink to left photo: John Childs. Written on back surface in black ink: John Childs early resident of Rawlins. Mr. and Mrs. Childs operated the Cottage Hotel which stood on the corner of 5th and Buffalo where the Federal Savings and Loan now stands. White tiny sticker on back with Childs written in pencil on it. Update July 2011: Black & white copy print of a man in a dark, textured, buttoned, suit jacket. He has a dark print tie with tie tack & stiff, round, collar shirt. He is looking toward photo right, his hair is short, parted on the right & combed with a swirl toward back. Written on back in blue ink: "John Childs early resident of Rawlins. Mr. & Mrs Childs operate the Cottage Hotel which stood on the corner of 5th & Buffalo where the Rawlins Federal Savings & Loan now stands." In black ink: "Neg No 5271" "Copy Provided by the Wyoming State Archives & Historical Department" Good condition. Rainbow emulsion, creased at bottom with indents in "L" shape, emulsion impacted by developing process, fingerprints. Size 5 x 7"
