Description

Two original photos of Frank Ferris and dog, Bruiser, 1894. Update 2008: Black and white print attached to tan tagboard that has been cut off at top with an irregular ragged line. Written on tagboard in pencil: Frank Ferris and Bruiser. Written on bottom of tagboard in blue green ink: About 1904. Print shows an arid landscape with barren hill and rock outcropping in background. A pair of dark horses are pulling a buggy with its white canves top folded back and showing a man dressed in medium colored pants, dark jacket, vest, white shirt, tie an medium brimmed hat holding the reins in his right hand and having his left arm on his dogs neck that is seated in front of him on buggy floor with its front legs on buggy side wall. A buggy whip is placed upright ton corner right. Buggy seat is covered in a channel tufted design of leather? Written on back in pencil: Original from #419 states the year is 1894. A tiny white sticker on back has Ferris written in pencil. Fair condition with wear, scratches and soiling on outside edges of matboard. Adhesive remnants and residue in on matboard at three locations. Tack holes on bottom edge of lower matboard. Print has irregular scratches over top area of photo at many locations showing white layer of print from emulsion abrasions. Several tiny dark spots at various locations unknown cause. There is a negative 4 x 5 of image in white envelope with Frank Ferris and Bruiser (the dog) about 1904 is written on envelope in pencil with #419 written on right bottom corner. This is a negative to 1947.001.0009 and not #419 image.
