Seven scan print of Hanna Four scans of coal mining in Hanna. 1. Sepia scan of an early day mine, buildings on a prairie beside a sloped pile with smoke coming from behind. Printed at bottom: "A fire at the tipple at the No 2 mine in Hanna (sometime before 1925) caused temporary closing of the mine while the structure was rebuilt. The tipple served as the coal screening plant & was where loading cars were emptied" "Courtesy of Wyoming Tales & Tails" Good condition. Size 3 5/8 x 6 3/16" 2. Sepia scan of rows of houses on photo left & right with a square building that has a peaked roof in the center. Dirt roads & prairie are in foreground. In white on original negative: "No # 3 Town Hanna, Wyo. Typed on bottom border: "Hanna No 3, approx 1910" Good condition. Size 4 3/8 x 7 5/8" 3. Black & white scan of a mine entrance. In center foreground are tracks going down into an area that has dirt sides that have fallen. A flat car is on the tracks. Buildings are on photo left & men stand between them & the mine. Large piles of wood are in the distance & on photo right. Debris is on photo right along with working men & onlookers. Typed on bottom: "Entrance to No. 1 Mine following explosion, 1908" "Courtesy of Wyoming Tales & Trails" Good condition. Size 4 3/8 x 5 7/8" 4. Black & white scan of mule pulling tram cars through a tunnel looking opening. Thus the company continues to hold large mineral reserves & lands in Wyoming, Colorado, & Utah & had a unique position in Wyoming with its holdings dating back to the original grants to the Union Pacific Railroad in the 1860's. The company s also involved with Arco in the development of mineral interests in Alaska & elsewhere" Good condition. Size 6 x 7 3/8" 1. Black & white scan. Image of a vintage car decorated with flags & wrapping around the body of the car. Two men are in drivers seat. Several young men are walking beside car. A wagon is in the background next to a large building with store fronts. In white on print: "(29) Best decorated automobile 1914 Labor Day From Hanna Hotel - Hanna" Typed beneath: "Hanna, established in 1886, was named after Marcus A. Hanna, an Ohio mining, shipping, & railroad magnate. Hanna is also noted as having rescued Ohio Governor William McKinley from financial failure. Hanna subsequently served as McKinley campaign manager. He strongly disagreed with the reform policies of President Theodore Roosevelt, referring to him as that cowboy" At the time of his death in 1904, Hanna was being groomed for a possible race against Roosevelt for the Republican presidential nomination" Good condition. Size 5 1/4 x 6 1/8" 1 Black & white scan of a dark frame building with extended entry. In front is a wagon with people sitting inside. Railroad tracks are on photo right. Printed in white on lower right: "Hanna, Wyo." Typed in red beneath print: "Hanna Railway Depot, 1910" Good condition. Size 4 x 6 1/8" One black & white scan of three rows of school children & a teacher in the middle in the back. They stand beside a stone building. In white on print bottom: "Hanna Public School Grade 2 & 3" Typed beneath: "Hanna Public School grades 2 & 3" Good condition. Size 5 1/4 x 7"
