Files are listed alphabetically by last name and numbered 1-78. A brief statement may be made about the file in Past Perfect to facilitate research. "The Saga of Peggy Dougherty." Sources used: South Pass and Its Tales, by James L. Sherlock and Frontier Days, by Judge W. L. Kuykendall. Details travails of winter mail and passenger stage travels of the J. L. Sanderson & Co. Al Dougherty, driver from Big Sandy to Green River, stuck in blizzard, his struggle to survive. The aftermath of his amputations and was known as "Peg Leg" Dougherty or "Peggy." Spent his summer in Encampment and the Platte Valley, his winters in Rawlins.
Story of his catching a horse thief, and results of man's trial.
