Scope and Content

Rans' documentation and research on notable subjects of Carbon County and its regional environs. (There are a few exceptions to this statement). Files are listed alphabetically by subject name and numbered 1-54. A list of contents or brief statement may be made about the file in Past Perfect to facilitate research. Many files contain newspaper clippings, manuscripts, photocopies from pertinent books and other materials. File 1- Albany County Mineral Resources, 1896 Carbon County Mining and Milling Company File 2-Battle of Suggs, WY Was a camp for construction workers building the Burlington and Missouri rail line across Northeastern WY in 1892. File 3-Ballot, Official 4/10/1900 Unmarked ballot printed with Democratic ticket of Hans Larsen for Mayor and Charles W. Morgan for Trustee; Independent ticket for Andrew Johnson, Republican for Mayor and W. L. Evan, Republican, for Trustee. File 4-Bibliography for Carbon County Anecdotes A list of books, articles, and newspapers that Rans read for writing and speaking on historical subjects. File 5-Big Horn Expedition (Questions and Answers; Boney Earnest Account; Newspaper Clippings) Inquiry raised about the 1874-1875 military expedition out of Rawlins to old Fort Phil Kearney that had been abandoned after the massacre. Wants proof that it was led by Col. Anson Miles. Clippings show that it was Anson Mills. Clippings detail the expedition taken to reign in Indian depredations. File 6-Brown's Park and Diamond Mountain A summary of a book entitled, 100 Years of Brown's Park and Diamond Mountain.
