1/22/1872-Laramie Daily Sentinel-Reference to proposal in Legislature to move territory capitol to Laramie, All Carbon County legislators support the move save Col. C. E. Wilson who admitted being for sale.
4/1/1872- Laramie Daily Sentinel-Hon. C. E. Wilson has just returned from a business trip west. Reports everything flourishing in vicinity of Bryon and Green River.
5/17/1872-Daily Independent-District Court of Carbon County has adjourned, C. E. Wilson dismissed from the bar, headed east.
5/18/1872-Daily Independent-After the muddle in Carbon County affairs, it might be well to state Frank Blake and James France are commissioners, J. P. Keller, Clerk and Pete Lemmon, Sheriff. E. C. Wilson is a disgrace to the legal profession, as he received money for acquittals of criminals, etc.
5/24/1872-Daily Independent-Suit instituted against Charles E. Wilson for receiving bribes and his name removed from all attorney rolls in territory; James Williams swears to known bribery of case for Mr. Knight, Mr. Kemp, and Mr. J. P. Morgan for various offenses, lengthy article follows

Pg. 33-John Hugus states that Wilson was from a prominent family and was overcome by greed and alcohol, gives illustration.

6/30/1873-Laramie Sentinel-Sheriff William Hawley with a band of citizens went to a Ute Camp 30 miles south of Rawlins, 12 Indians reported slain 16 ponies confiscated, with saddles, blankets, arms, etc. not reported that they found any property of whites. Rans note "Pine Grove Massacre."
7/1/1873-Citizens meet to Carbon County Court House to organize militia committee of three draft telegrams to Gov. Campbell notifying him of late fight at Pine Grove Meadows by Sheriff Hawley and 9 men.

12/15/1911-Carbon Count Journal-Former Warden and ex-special agent, George Lewis, of the Union Pacific was shot to death by Deputy U. S. Marshall N. E. Bacon in Illinois. Article details the background and history of the two men and their feud. Lengthy article
12/14/1911-Rawlins Republican-George Lewis well known and not well liked, slayer claims self-defense, article
11/2/1911-Rawlins Republican, pg. 3, article on Chief Union Pacific Detective charged with assault on H. M. Thomas. See article in newspaper for more information.
6/20/1910-(Rans does not state source). A long article on the shooting of Robert Temple by James W. Parson. There was a disagreement over Parsons taking gravel from county right of way on which he had to cross Temple property to get the gravel. Words and threats ensued. Parsons was taking the gravel for use on Bob Meldrum's place at the behest of Baggs Justice of the Peace, Pearson. Parson talked with the Deputy Sheriff Bob Meldrum and others about the right of way. Meldrum told Parsons to ignore Temple. It ended with Parson's being threatened by Temple whom he thought was going to shoot him. He claimed self-defense. He shot Temple 3 times. Jury declared he was guilty of manslaughter and sentenced him to 25 years in prison. His wife sued for divorce 10 days later.Collection
