Description

Photo of Larsen's first lumber office and carpentry shop. It burned about 1908 or 1909. It was located on present sight of H. Larsen's office on Front St., Rawlins. Two originals. Update 2009: Black and white print of lumbar yard building on 200 block of Front St. Image of multi level building with other shorter roof buildings attached on both sides. Wood stairs lead to balcony entrance. Sign on corner of building reads: "Office Upstairs". On balcony at entrance, 5 men are standing. On ground under balcony another man stands. There is a wagon pulled by two horses, a man sits on the wagon seat holding the reins of horses. A sign on main building upper level reads: "H. Larsen. Contractor - and Builder. Lumber and Building Material Lincoln pain and Color Co.'s. Absolutely Pure Paints. " Lumbar racks are seen on photo right. Written on back in blue ink: "Ned by Mrs. Draper-Helen Irving". "Larson's [sic Larsen's] first lumbar office and carpentry shop. Burned about 1908 or 1909. It was located on the present site of H. Larson's [sic Larsen's] office on Front St." Written on back in red pencil: "Copied by State" Black ink: "An Mounted" in pencil: "page 31, pix 1 3 3/16 x 4 1/2". On white adhesive tag in pencil: "Larsen". Condition good. Liquid stained, scratched, fingerprints, emulsion impacted, mount cut down, edges and corners worn, ink marks above heads of two people on balcony. Update March 2011: One black & white copy print. Written on back in blue ink: "Larson's first lumber office & carpenter shop. It burned about 1908. It was located on Front Street." Stamped on back in black: "Copy Provided by the Wyoming State Archives & Historical Department" Good condition. Right edge cut off. Size 5 x 6 1/8"
