Description

Photo of the South side of Cedar between 4th and 5th Streets. Rawlins Mercantile Company, Drugs, Wyoming Drug. Update - 2009: Black & white print of a vintage downtown scene of different store buildings in a row on the far side of the street. There is a very small frame building on side left & to it's left is a narrow 2 story sandstone building with ornate front facade. Next to it is a wider, glass front (lower edges) sandstone building with the sign Rawlins Mercantile Co lettered across building front above window panes. To the left of this building is another two story sandstone building with a tall pole with large clock on sidewalk in front. The sign on this building reads DRUGS. On side right of print is a single story building with a dark sign at top Wyoming Drug. Written on back in pencil: South side of Cedar St between 4th & 5th Della's Store Poor condition. Print has been creased & torn at several areas. Right corner is bent & creased with heavy crack in emulsion. The large diagonal crease has been taped on the backside as well as taped portion of upper & lower edges. Dark smudges are seen on back side of print. There are tiny tears at various locations on all edges. A dark developing area is at top side left. One black & white glossy print. Written on the back in pencil: "Cracker Box - tall building on left: Cedar Street between 4th & 5th. The Anthony Store now occupies the Rawlins Mercantile Co. The tall building on left was used for many businesses & was nicknamed the "Cracker Box". the Drug Store on the right is where the Cedar Chest is located. Stamped in black: "Photo Reproduction by Meyers Studio, Rawlins, Wyo" Good condition. Creased, scratched, top left corner bent. Size 5 7/8 x 10.
