Saratoga Bridge after wreck, Dec. 3, 1943 and one neg.
Update 3/2010: Three prints, two contact prints and one negative of the wreck of the Saratoga tress bridge.
1. Written on back in pencil: "Saratoga Bridge: East span-not damaged by wreck of West span 12/3/43. Bridge was 2 spans of 128', with 50' timber trestle approach at each end, 15' clear roadway and 2-5' sidewalk cantilevering from truss floor beams.
Condition good. Creased down middle vertically. Fingerprint, lower right corner bent. Size 3 1/2 x 5 7/8.
2. Written on back in pencil: "Old Saratoga Bridge West span wrecked by load of logs 12/3/43. Truck hit post vertical on truss. Neither driver nor the truck were hurt. Happened at 8:30 pm. Original bridge built 1185. Fabr.-King Bridge Co. Cleveland, Ohio. Two 128'-0" Spans, 15' rdwy, 2-5' sidewalk, latter cantilevered outside of trusses. Roadway and sidewalk timber,s incl stringers 1/4 " steel Caisson piers, filled with concrete. Photo by WHF 12/5/43". #1 of 3 views".
Condition: Good. Emulsion impacted by writing on back. Size 3 1/2 x 5 3/4.
3. Written on back in black ink: "Old Bridge over North Platte River at Saratoga 2-128'-0" truss spans. Built 1885." Stamped in black: "Wyoming Highway Department Photo".
Condition good. Faded. Size 5 x 7.
1. Contact Print: Condition good. Crease down middle vertically, irregular borders. Size 5 x 7.
2. Contact Print: Written on back in pencil: "Saratoga Bridge after wreck 12/3/43" Condition good. Irregular borders, top cut crooked. Size 4 1/2 x 6 7/8.
