File 10 A heavy yellow covered folder with inside clamps which hold papers on left and right sides. Measures 9.5" x 14.5." Title on outside of folder in black print, "Wyoming Taxpayers Association Legislative Summary Service." A small white stick on label reads, "Representative Daniel Kinnaman, Carbon County." This notebook contains the donor's handwritten notes on people, places and events from Carbon County from years 1879-1896. The information was obtained from the newspapers of the day. They are arranged chronologically on the left side beginning from 1879-1886. The right side is arranged in reverse order with the last year of 1896 on the first page and notes from 1886 on the last page. Pages on left start with number 93. See People and Search Terms. Notes: 2/19/1881-Dr. John Osborne arrives, to be in practice with Dr. Thomas Maghee. 3/26/1881-Inquisition held about the hanging of George Parrott aka Big Nose George 10/18/1884-Robert B. Connor, one of the men who hung Ella Watson, sold his Horse Creek ranch property to the Bothwell Syndicate (another one of the murderers). 12/6/1884-Malachi Dillon's mother, Mary died. 7/11/1885-Sim Wahn, one of murderers of Vincent and Widdowfield was found in Miles City, MT (listed in People as Wan, Sim) 12/11/1886-James Averell, appointed Sweetwater Postmaster 3/19/1887-Dr. John E. Osborne purchased a large interest in the Fred Geddes flock of sheep. 6/25/1887-Fort Halleck Ranch is being rebuilt. 9/3/1887-Articles about Rawlins' Businesses 78 teams with Shoshone drivers came to town 10/26/1889-No indictments found in Sweetwater Lynching (James Averell and Ella Watson) due to lack of witnesses. Buchanan, witness for the prosecution was bribed to leave the country, etc. Pg. 348. 5/10/1890-John E. Osborne appointed Union Pacific Railroad physician; obituary of Frank Earnest. 5/23/1891-Orders received to close down the Dana, WY mines. 8/29/1891-Dr. Thomas Maghee appointed Union Pacific Railroad surgeon. 10/15/1891-Electric Light poles being erected. 1/23/1892-List of sheepmen west of Rawlins and east of divide. 15 groups/individuals.
