Photo of the Elks Building: Don Murray, J. C. Clouse, N.R. Greenfield, Charlie Blydenburg, Will Reid, Tom Frew, J.C. Gunning, Jim Measures, Charlie Watson, Dee Wren, Frank Ferris, Dixon. UPDATE 2009: Black and white print mounted on ecru matboard. Group of men standing on either side of a dining table. Table has light colored cloth still has dishes on it, with light colored cloth on floor under table. Men dressed in suits and ties. Most of the men are holding food in their hands. Back wall has mounts-one elk in the middle and a deer on either ride. Chairs are on side walls. Two doors on back wall. Stove on left of picture behind men. Chimney comes up and to the middle of room and out left wall. 14 of men have been identified an numbers have been written on emulsion on, over or at the feet of each man identified. Engraved in lower right corner of mat: " The Ferris Studio Rawlins." {corner missing as is most of Rawlins and Wyo.} Written on back in blue ink: Picture taken about 1905. Elk hall 4th and Cedar street. ( In what was the old Masonic Hall) later was used by the Odd Fellows and they bought the building-they owned the building when this picture was taken as the Elks held meetings here until they built their building across West from the Ferris Hotel. The building burned down and the IOOF lodge built the present building : named Paulsen building(names for one o their members). The Rawlins Drug Store was in the downstairs and there were offices upstairs now in 1956. Correction: The Elks bought this building from the Masons and the IOOF then bought the building from the Elks. The Elks owned the building at the time this picture was taken. Charlie Blydenburg-attorney; Will Reid-editor; 6. Tom Frew-bricklayer and stone mason; 7. J.C. Gunning-saloon; 8. Jim Measures-Railroad engineer; 9. Charlie Watson-Druggist, clear of court for years; 10. Dee Wren-manager of Ferris Hotel and stock man; 11. Frank Ferris-Ferris hotel, drug store.; 12 Dixon-a barber.; 13. Fred Kelley-Grew up in Rawlins; 14. L. J. Nelson-lived in Rawlins many years, married Lillian Heath.; 15. Hoyt-druggist. Carbon County Museum by Mr. and Mrs. Walton France, Rawlins, WYO. Written on back in black ink: "Organizations" Written on back in pencil: "Taken about 1905 Elks Hall 4th and Cedar (the old masonic hall) the Elks sold to IOOF." Written on back in green ink: 3. Engraved in lower right corner of mat: "The Ferris Studio, Rawlins," (corner missing as is most of "Rawlins" and "Wyo". Mounted on acidic matboard. Mat warped; lower right corner missing. Edge and corner damage. Soiled an yellowed. Numbers written directly on emulsion; emulsion slightly scratched.
