Image of a man standing on a prairie holding a rifle and wearing a string of dead sagegrouse around his shoulders and down to his knees. He is wearing a hat cocked to the left. Written on the back in blue ink: "James Bennett, early Rawlins resident when sage chickens were plentiful. July 25, 1901." Written on back in pencil: "99985". Mounted on acidic matboard. Cut down to image margin-writing on back cut off and edges irregular. Image surface soiled and scuffed, fingerprints at right side. Mat slightly warped.
