Three originals of J. A. Bennett, owner of Bennett Hardware, first on Front St. than moved to Cedar St., Rawlins. He came here in 1883. Made by Jukes in 1909. Large beard and mustache and balding.
Update 2008: Black and white print. Studio portrait. Oval image. Head and shoulders portrait of a man in a dark suit, white shirt. He sports a long beard with clean shaven cheeks and short receding hair.
Written in lower right comer in pencil: Jukes 1909".

1. Written on back in black ink: "James Bennett". "Duplicate mounted". Soiled and stained, front and back.
2. Written on front in lower margin in blue ink: "J. A. Bennett". Written on back in black ink: "James A. Bennett. {blue} who was the founder of the Bennett Hardware Store in Rawlins, Wyo-First store was on Front street in 1883[.] {black} this picture belongs to Ed F. Bennett[.] {blue} The first store was opened on Front street in 1883-in a few years he built the store on Cedar Street, it is still in the Bennett family and being run by a granddaughter of J. A. Bennett, now in 1958. For over 50 years Ed. F. Bennett owned and ran the store until his death in 1957. He was a son of J.A. Bennett. {black} (Jim Bennett)." Written in red pencil on the back: "Page 38, pix 2, 2 1/2 x 2". White adhesive label pasted to back: "Bennett". Adhesive and tan paper residue on back yellowing emulsion on front at top of head. Soiled. Emulsion scuffed. Paper yellowed.
3. Written on the back in blue ink: "Mr. James A. Bennett. Bennett Hardware Store 1883 located on Front St. in 1883, later moved to Cedar St. Given by Mrs. Walton France-Rawlins." Bent on top edge and through center. Paper clip mark on upper left edge. Pencil mark at center bottom. Soiled on back.Collection
