Description

Post card photo of passenger car wreck. Update 2/2010: Black and white print. Snapshot, printed on postcard paper. Unused. Image from above of a passenger train wreck. The engine is on its side and the cars are jackknifed and off the track. Large group of workmen are along the tracks at center, it appears that a piece of track have been removed at center bottom. Railroad car wrecker appears to have arrived in background. Signal tower at head of wreak on left side of tracks. Written on original negative in lower right: "Photo by Stitt". Printed off center to left. Printed on back in black ink: "Postcard" "Correspondence" "Address" [square with squares in corners and "AZO" as sides around] "Place Stamp Here." Found in folder of images from the wreck of the Portland Rose March 23, 1934. Back soiled. Slight corner damage. Irregular emulsion that does not reach all the way to the edges. Crack in emulsion at top edge left of center, surface missing in lower right. Surface scratched.
