Description

Cherry wood altar chair, age unknown but probably made before the 1930s. Stain/varnish is dark brown. There are small white caster wheels on each of the front chair legs. The front chair legs appear to have been turned rather than carved. The chair has no arm rests. There is a seat cushion and back cushion, both covered with wine-colored velvet. The cushions are trimmed with tan and wine/pink embroidered ribbon. The top portion of the chair back is decoratively carved with 2 cut-out trinity knots and a cut-out cross of similar design between them. The side supports of the seat back are each topped with a stylized fleur-de-lis, with a larger and taller fleur-de-lis topping the center of the chair.
