Scope and Content

A group of three manuscripts and one handout document concerning the Carbon County Museum's 65th Anniversary Tour of the Overland Trail through western part of Carbon County. They are identified a-d. a. An 18 page typed manuscript of the lecture given by Rans Baker at all the stops of the Overland Trail Tour in the western part of Carbon County. See search terms for stops. Mrs. Millicent Sanger and Mrs. Louise Erb were on the tour. Their families and they owned the Sulphur Springs Station as part of their ranches. b. A 5 page typed early manuscript of the lecture given by Rans Baker on the Overland Trail Tour. It is incomplete. There are three maps in this group of the Overland Trail across Highway 130, map 1 shows only a small area of the trail. Map 2 shows none of it. Map 3 is a segment of a section map with a marked route from the southwest to the gate into Sulphur Springs, Bridger Pass, the gate to Pine Grove Station and Pine Grove. c. An 18 page typed manuscript of the lecture given by Rans Baker at all the stops of the Overland Trail Tour in the western part of Carbon County. It has been edited with corrections and additions in pencil. It is believed that these manuscripts are a transcription of a tape recording which was made on the tour. The tape is object id: 2021.217.5.4 e. and a Viking brand disc copy of the tape is labeled object id: 2021.217.5.4 f. d. A 5 page document that was given to the tour participants that described the tour and the staffs that would direct the tour. (BLM directed the tour at their J. O. Ranch, and the museum staff directed the tour at the other Overland Stage Station stops). A brief written history is given of The Pass, a photocopy of a photo of Bridger Pass Station remains, Sulphur Springs Stage Station, Bridger's Pass Stage Station, Pine Grove Stage Station, and a photocopy of the section maps that showed the marked route of the tour beginning from Creston Junction south to the J.O. Ranch, thence as listed in document b., map 3 above.
