Photo of the interior of the Rawlins Post Office, 1898. It was located on the corner of Cedar and 4th St. Fritz Dennison, P. L. Smith, postmaster, and Jim Finley.
Update - 2009: Black & white print of the interior of the old post office. Mail bags are at the foreground of the photo. The bags are clipped in a medal frame that forms a square "v" shape. In the center of the "v" is a square table with paper lying on it. Attached to the left wall is a large board with unidentified objects on it. Suitcase type objects are lying on the floor under the board & next to the back section of the frame holding the mail bags. Standing in the background, behind the mail bags, in the left corner, facing out is a man in a dress suit. Hi is standing in front of mail slots. Standing in the center background, in front of the mail slots is a man in a suit & hat. he has a beard & mustache. In the left corner of the background, in front of mail slots, is a third man in a suit & hat. He has a mustache. He has his left hand against a desk shaped object, which is built into the wall. Down the left wall are large slots with rolled up paper, of all sizes, sticking out of the large slots. There is an oil lamp hanging above the man standing in the center background.
Original print has been cut down in size & is on a matboard. Written on the left side back in blue ink, "Interior of the U.S. Post Office of Rawlins in 1898. It was located on the corner of Cedar & Fourth Street. From left to : Fritz Dennison, P. L. Smith (Post Master), and Jim Finley"
