Printed scenery backdrop. One man is seated on a baluster with his right arm resting on a short decorated column. He is dressed in a light colored plaid 3 piece suite, white shirt, and dress shoes. He is holding a light colored hat. Man at right is standing in front of the baluster with his left hand tucked in his pants pocket. His right hand is behind his back. He is wearing a dark plaid 3 piece suite, white shirt, patterned tie and dress shoes. He is wearing a star-shaped medal or pin and a watch chain. Written on back : "1. W.J. Johnston 2. Baker an early day western photographer. Johnston was a brother of Mrs.. Louis Schalk (nee Mary Ann Johnston) who came to Rawlins from Canada to visit above named brother about 1883. I cannot learn the year these photographs were taken-Mrs. Schalk let me have these copies made of then in 1947." "7" stamped on back. "2" written on top front in pencil. Scalloped edges. Emulsion cracked middle left, top left. Front marked W.J. Johnston Photographers.
