In order from left to right: 1st man standing sideways, right hand in pocket, smoking pipe: 2nd man seated petting dog with right hand, bench in front of him; 3rd man standing facing forward hand at side; 4th man standing facing forward has beard; 5th man standing closer to building hand inside jacket; 6th man standing, has beard, holding stick; 7th man at end of building, has hands raised, palms forward, mouth opened, posing silly. Building printed with "Photographs" Baker and Johnston. 5 men center in uniform. Far right and left men dark suits. May be ice on river?
Written on back in pencil:" Their portable equipment set up for business at Ft. Steele before post was abandoned". Stamped on back "7".
Some scratches and cracked emulsion top middle. Edges slightly worn and soiled. Scalloped edges.
Second original: Written on back in black ink: "Baker and Johnston's portable photographic Studio at Ft. Steele, Wyo". Stamped on back in blue ink: "26" . Written in pencil on white adhesive label pasted to back: "Baker & Johnson" 3 1/2 x 5". Condition: Writing on back impacting emulsion at top. Emulsion scratched and cracked along upper edge; cracked at center right side. Slight corner damage.Collection
