Photo of the Journal, the Rawlins weekly newspaper started in 1879. Building on 4th Street between Cedar and Front. Carbon County Journal Building built prior to March 1880. North addition built April, 1881. Addition to back built in 1882. South addition built in 1883. Print shop was built in 1883. Photograph taken about 1883. Pat Healy, John Friend and Charles Blydenburgh.
Update 2009: Black and white print of newspaper office on 200 block of 4th street. A clapboard building with sign on top that reads: "The Journal". Sign on door reads: "No Admittance". Seven men stand in front of building, one on left identified with pencil line and name above his head, as pat Healy. One man on right identified with line and his name above head as John Friend. Another as Peck. Other names unreadable. Written on top border in pencil: "1883". Written on print in pencil names of men in photo. Written on back in pencil: "Exterior Rawlins Business Houses." Home of the Journal, Rawlins weekly newspaper. Paper started in 1879. Building was on 4th street between Cedar and Front Streets." "Photograph believed to be after 1883 because print shop was built that year Dan & Rans:" "Carbon County Journal Bldg built prior to March 1880 north addition built April 1881 South Addition built 1883.
