An Indonesian/Phillippino multi-use blade or dagger, called a moro gunong or punyal. The blade is triangular and double-edged, with a very broad base. The blade has been etched with swirling decorative designs on both sides. The hilt is made of wood and possibly other materials like metal and lacquer. It is shaped like a pistol grip, with a sharp curve and a bulbous pommel. The crossguard and upper part of the grip are decorated with orange, black, red and green shapes of unknown material. The knife also has a sheath carved from 2 flat pieces of wood that used to be glued together around the edges. A leather strap wraps around the sheath to assist in attaching it to a belt. There are no maker's marks on blade or sheath.Collection
