Taken in 1885 at Ranch south of Medicine Bow by F. M. Baker, an old Carbon Photographer. The owner of the wagon is John Kuykendall and Kook Kuykendall of the Ranch above Saratoga.
Update 4/2011: Framed black and white print of about 14 men sitting on the ground, thee standing and one on horseback next to a chuck wagon along the bank of a stream. There are 8 horses on the right side of the print. Rocks in the foreground. There is a campfire with cooking utensils. On the front there is a sticker which reads: "Taken in 1885. W Ranch South of Medicine Bow Town on Medicine Bow River by F. M. Baker, an old Carbon photographer...." Signed: "Rubie Rivera". On the back in pencil: "Taken 1885 by F. M. Baker a W. Ranch 3 miles South of Med Bow Town. " In pen: "Riders in this picture are some of the same as other picture and some are not. The wagon is the property of John Kuykendall and Koon Kuykendall of the H Ranch above Saratoga. In the picture are John Kuykendall foreman of round up. Koon Kuykendall assistant foreman. John Monroe, also assistant foreman. Billy Monroe, brothers. Sam Monroe, brothers. John Cole, Cowboy rider; Bob Smith, Cowboy rider. Dude Rounds, rider for Beer Mug Ranch, Difficulty. Rooster Willson rider for L.T. Cattle Co., L. E. Vivian riding for J.B. outfit, Leo, Wyo. Chas Ferguson riding for Hash knife outfit south Spring Creek. Rubie Rivera extreme left riding for Hash Knife outfit. I am not able to recognize all the boys for 42 years is a long time and it is that long since I rode the range. Rubie Rivera". 12-7-27.
