Social 40 picnic, Aug. 16, 1903 at the Platte River. Unidentified.
Update 1/2008: Black and white print. Snapshot. Mounted on grey matboard with indented frame around image. Image of a large group of men and women in a grassy clearing having a picnic. Most are seated on the ground. Man in shirtsleeves standing at right holding a large bucket, man and woman standing at left. All but one man, men and women included are wearing hats. Three large water melons on the grass near center. Picnic baskets and trash at far left foreground. Trees and bushes surround the clearing.
Written on back in pencil: "Social 40 picnic Aug. 16, 1903 Platte River".
Written on back in black ink: "Copied" "Bennett Package".
Mounted on acidic matboard. Mat warped. Corner and edge damage. Mail/pin hole at top center edge. Image and surface soiled, scuffed and scratched.
