Description

Large, original photo of the George Ferris Ranch about 1875 on the Platte River and covered now by the Seminoe Lake. Update 2009: Sepia print mounted on grey matboard . Image of a group of log buildings strung out across a grassy prairie, low hills in background. Trees behind buildings at right and left of center. Clothes hanging on line at right. Horse grazing at left. Written on back in pencil: "Geo Ferris Ranch built about 1875 on Platte River now covered by Seminole {sic Seminoe} Lake" "6982" Written in pencil on white label on back: "Ferris". Mounted on acidic matboard. Cut down from original size-edges rough and uneven. Mat cracked vertically on right side and previously mended with transparent tape on front and back. Emulsion soiled and scratched, silvering in lower left corner. Two (2) modern copy prints. 8 1/2 x 11. Image cut off before break on original. 1. Written on back in pencil: "Photo of George Ferris Ranch ca 1875 on the Platte River now covered by Seminoe Lake". 2. Written on back in pencil: "Photo Geo Ferris Ranch ca 1875 on the Platte River covered by Seminoe Lake." Update July 2011: Black & white copy print. Written on back in black ink: "George Ferris Ranch built about 1875 on Platte River - now covered by Seminoe Lake" Good condition. Wrinkled, top ripped & repaired with adhesive tape, creased, paper missing on back top. Size 4 7/8 x 6 7/8"
