Description

Freight wagon in front of Encampment Lumber and Transportation Company in the early days of a mining boom about 1900 Update February 2011: Black & white print on black mat. Image of a clapboard building with a high dock. In front are multi horse & mule teams hitched to wagons that are heavily loaded. Men & a dog are on photo left & on right more men & a saddle horse. Building signs read "Encampment Lumber and Transportation Co, Lumber, Hay & Grain". Buildings in background signs: "Harners" "Office of E. L. & TCS". A few more scattered smaller buildings are on fringes of town. An adhesive tag on bottom reads: "Taken at Encampment about 1900". Written on back in black ink: "Donated to museum by Orlando Petersen, Tullis, Wyo. Encampment about 1900 early days of mining boom. In pencil: "Everett Fields, Johnnie Poe, Jack Fulkson (called Gee String Jack), Billie Welch was transportation boss". Good condition. Scuffed, lower right corner of print torn off -paper missing, spot on top center, upper left corner of print - paper missing, developing anomaly spot lower right. Size 5 38 x 13 3/4"
