Photo of an old show wagon found at the foothills of Elk Mountain in Rattle Snake Canyon. Supposed to have brought a show troupe to Ft. Halleck near the area where it was found. The troupe supposedly was killed by Indians. Update February 2011: Black & white print of a rectangular, enclosed wagon on wheels. Vertical boards are surrounded by horizontal framing. The door has been removed but one can be seen through the door opening. Spoke wheels & heavy framing can bee seen beneath the wagon. Two boards are leaning against the front & a tree limb against the side. Some debris is on ground on photo right & a hill is in the distance with a few trees & grass surrounds the wagon. Written in blue ink on top border: "No 227" On bottom border: "Old Show Wagon at Mrs. Mullens Ranch" Written on back in blue ink: "A picture of the old show wagon as it stands today at Mrs. Mullens ranch near Elk Mountain" In pencil: "The old wagon was found in a canyon near Elk Mt. Mrs. Mueller had known it was there for 35 or 40 years before she brought it to her place. The wagon is supposed to have brought actors to Ft. Hallack located near there at that time to entertain the soldiers & also the wood choppers who cut wood on Elk Mt. for the wood burning engines that was used in the engines on the U.P.R.R. that had just been built through the territory - The actors were supposed to have been killed by the Indians as they were causing trouble at that time. Good condition. Top border torn, corners creased, scratched, emulsion impacted, fingerprints, liquid spots. Size 5 x 5 1/4"
