Description

8X10 group of young people in the Masonic Temple on stage. The stage was taken out about 1913. Update 2008: Sepia print. Snapshot. Group of people posed on and in front of a stage . The men and women appear to be in costume. Wood floor and two round columns in foreground. Ornate stage framing with lights and carved ceiling with two rows of lights. Painted scenery backdrops. Sign held at center of front row: "Thar Aint Gonna Be No Ragged. We Aint Got no Usse Four Them Thar Wiggley Sity Dances S.I." Signs posted at each side of stage: "Spitting on floor - and smoking- prohibited by State Board of Realty". Cardboard found with photo identifies some of the people (marked with pen on emulsion surface) 1. Leland Smiley (Left of left column) 2. Florence Alearn? (Front row 3rd from left column) 3. Charles Vivian (Front row, 1st from right column) "This picture was taken some time before 1922[.] After the fire of that year the temple was remodeled. We think this picture was taken around 1913." Noted added by Rans Baker: "this is the correct photo. I recognize #s 2, 4, 5 & 15. The date is most likely 1912, no 13." (See accession book) Grey paper and adhesive residue on back around edges and at center. Removed from folder or matboard? Adhesive impacting emulsion. Ink on emulsion surface identification numbers. Surface soiled and scratched, tape adhesive residue on corners.
