Description

Rawlins Depot carrying a California tree going to Chicago World's Fair in 1891. Update - Sepia card print of large log on railroad car. Several people are standing or sitting on top of log, others are on railcar. More people are on ground looking toward railcar. Tops of other train cars can be seen beyond log. In the background is a large building with one large, two medium & two small dormer windows in roof & two chimneys. Nine windows are on side next to tracks & an outside ladder leads to second level on photo left end. Written on bottom in pencil: "Stopped in Rawlins" Printed on right end: "A. A. Brown, Rawlins, Wyo." Gold vine & leaf pattern & decorative symbol surround writing. Written on back in pencil: "California big tree going to Chicago Worlds Fair" In black ink: "1891" "Return to: (unreadable)" circled. On white adhesive tag: "Maxwell House 2nd U.P. Hotel built in Rawlins, converted to U.P. Club when Ferris Hotel opened in 1902" On white adhesive tag: "U.P. Railroad" Condition: Fair. Faded, soiled, top left corner bent, accretion, creased, written on front in ink.
