Description

Two people, maybe Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McMicken, in San Francisco. Update - 2009: Black & white print of open sided wagon with fringe hanging from top of wagon. Painted on side of wagon: "Golden Gate". On side of wagon where driver sits in written: "Golden Gate Transfer Co. 5 Golden Gate Ave". Wagon is pulled by a team of four horses. Behind & above wagon is a spiral turret. A series of posts leads from turret to a multi level parapet. Bottom level has an arch window on two visible sides. There are steps leading to second level that has enclosed sides, more steps leading to open level with fenced sides, another set of steps leads to top level with fenced sides. A pole sticks up from this level but top of pole is not visible. In front of wagon there are wide concrete steps leading up to parapet base level. A man stands at bottom of steps dressed in dark suit, tie and hat. At top of stairs is a sign reading: "Parapet" Four men are standing on parapet level, one is wearing a uniform jacket & hat, the other three have on dark suits & hats. There are several statues & urns on posts, & cannon on this level & it is surrounded by a crenellated wall. Sign beside wide concrete steps reads: "Best view of sea lions is up on the parapet" remainder of sign unreadable. Inside the wagon are a group of well dressed ladies & gentlemen. Print mounted on dark grey mat, white outline around print. Condition: Good. Accretion spots on left center of print, scratched top right, indented emulsion.
