8 petrified bones found near Lusk, WY. Found by Walt Lambertson. Research and visual comparison suggests that the jaw and teeth are likely from an extinct rhino species, either Hyracodon or Subhyracodon. Lack of wear on the teeth may mean the jaw was from a juvenile. Several of the fossils show signs of repair.
1. 11" long, large, joint at one end, repaired, smaller joint at other end.
2. Small 2 x 2" petrified bone, tan with flecks on either side.
3. Jaw bone with teeth, 5 x 2", repaired, jaw is tan color, teeth are brown color.
4. 2 x 2" bone, brown & tan, crystals are in marrow.
5. Light color bone, 2 x 1/2" in size.
6. Small jaw piece with tooth, crystal next to tooth.
7. Long narrow bone, repaired, 5 1/2" long, crystals in end.
8. Small 2" long narrow bone fragment, repaired.
