Black and white photograph of Thomas Hanks family in a car dated 8-24-1914. Update 2009: Scanned print with caption. Group of 8 people in a large vintage automobile parked on grass with top down. English drive. Older man in driver's seat with young man behind him, probably standing on the running board. Older woman in front passenger seat. Woman, infant and young boy in second seat. Two women in back seat. printed below image: Thomas is driving. Sitting by his side is his wife Matilda "Tillie" Johnson Hanks. Standing behind Thomas is believed to be a son, George Rosco Hanks 9b. Feb. 1897). The young boy behind his mother is another son, Ralph Harold Hanks (b. after 1900 census). The three young women in the back (L to R) are: Helen Johnson Crum (?), and her baby, a sister to Matilda, then Matilda's daughter, Lillie M. Hanks (b. Feb. 15, 1892) who later married Peter Nelson (Sept. 25, 1912), and Mary "manie" hands, a first cousin visiting from Utah. (Manie would later write a brief summary of Thomas Hanks' life, including some details of this visit.
