An 1884 photograph of the Harvey House in 1884 in Dubuque, Iowa, 8 3/4" x 7" depicting a dining room with Harvey Girls dressed in white and donor's grandmother as head waitress in white top and a black skirt. Back of photo states that Charles Mayo (of Mayo Clinic fame) ate there frequently. The room has high ceiling, chandeliers, with linens on tables.

Written on back of original:[black ink] "Harvey House Dubuque, Iowa" [blue ink] "[cut off] Moines or Dubuque, Iowa". [blue ink] "Grandmother-black skirt-head waitress. Charles Mayo (Mayo Bros.) use to eat here."

Mounted on acidic tan matboard. Cut down from original size-edges rough and uneven; writing on back cut off. Image surface soiled and scratched, mat soiled front and back.Collection
