Description

Concentrating plant and smelter at Ferris Haggarty Mine. Update - 2009: Black & white print with two copies of several large wooden structures with other smaller outlying buildings. Main structures are built at the top and sides of a large mesa type hill area with smaller buildings at the base of the hill. Two black cylindrical pipes arise from ground level to a height above the buildings. One is beside a building at lower ground area & one is placed at mid center between two larger buildings at top of flat hill area. A grassy field is seen at foreground with a split rail fence separating the grassy area from the buildings & mesa. Written on print surface in blue ink over building top at side left: Concentrating Plant Written on print surface in blue ink over building side right: Smelter There are several developing flaws on image including small black blotches at top side left; long black line on side right & smaller black line at top edge. There is a small white No. 56 at lower right corner from negative. Stamped on back in black ink: Carbon County Museum, Box 52, Rawlins, WY Fair condition, image is heavily soiled top & back surface with heavy smudges & minute orange stain. There are many creases & wrinkles at top half of image in emulsion. all corners have wear with creases. There are many small tears at lower edge margin. Lower left corner is creased. Two copies, both lighter than original, both good condition. Soiling from original shows on these reprints. One copy has a lower white border and irregular area & the other does not. Both are 3 1/2 x 4 3/4"
