Description

A black and white print of a very large group of Union Pacific men taking a break in the Union Pacific machine shop. The photo shows a very large group of workers inside the machine shop, standing and lined up stairwell in the back distance. The machine shop shows an elaborate open ceiling area of timber crossbeamed structure. Some men have on coveralls and are soiled. Few others at side left are wearing a suit or slacks, shirt, vest and tie. Machine wheel of some type is seen in foreground. Written on back in blue ink: Rawlins, Grandpa Roberts in white shirt. Written on back in black ink: "foreman machine shop railroad Rawlins, Wyo. 1905." Fair condition. Print has been torn in half and taped back together on the back surface. The lower left front corner is missing. All edges are worn and have tiny tears all along the side edges. Print is heavily soiled with dark smudges, and tiny black droplets of unknown origen. Back surface is soiled and has remnants of black paper and dark black smudges.
