Description

Ferris Haggarty Mine. Black & white print attached to tan colored corrugated cardboard. Image shows the building of a railroad bridge over a stream with men, timber lifting equipment and rail cars in distance. A large arid hill rises beside the track & the men on side right. Irregular length & shaped logs & timbers are seen in foreground & in front side right. A swift moving stream is at side left. The bridge appears to have concrete support walls at each end with timbered under supports through water center. There are two men sitting on side left of track & one man sitting on opposite side of track in foreground right. A large group of men are standing on either side of track on side left with a single man standing on side left of steep incline at mid center of image. Written on back in black ink: Ferris Haggarty[sic] (Haggarty) Doc Culleton Collection Poor condition. A large chunk of cardboard is torn off back side left. Print has much damage from being attached to cardboard, as well as excessive soiling. soiling includes brown flecks of unknown substance, dark smudges & stains at many areas over top surface. There is wrinkling caused from air pockets between print & cardboard ripples. There are developing flaws consisting of long black lines & black blotches on side right edge - top & bottom corners. A black developing line shows at areas with piece of print missing. Print & cardboard have been irregularly cut. There are many creases & cracks in emulsion especially at side left. Side left corner has small white area from lifted emulsion. Three corners are torn with missing areas of print. Print has been cut from original size. There are 2 copies. both 3 1/2 x 4 3/4" they both are in poor condition. Flaws seen in their images including white opaque lines from the originals waviness due to air pockets. Copy 1 - no writing on back & has few tiny fleck in emulsion & side right. Copy 2 - has Ferris Haggerty[sic] written in black ink. A tiny smudge is seen at top right surface.
