Description

Jessie Johnson, Emile Kreuger, Charles Countryman, Sr., and Martin Scheudy. Kreuger was the saddle maker in early days Rawlins. Scheudy's son was killed in WWI and a street in Topeka, Kansas was named for him. UPDATE 2009: Black and white print by Meyers Studio, Rawlins, Wyo encased in a folding black marbelized looking mat folder (25" long when opened sideways), which has been cut off along bottom edge of front folder. Print shows four older men outside. Three men are sitting in various type chairs and the fourth is kneeling in front of them at foreground center. Man on left is dressed in work type clothes and is smoking a pipe. He has a bushy mustache. Man in center back row is wearing a suit, white shirt, stiff white collar and a medium brimmed hat. Man on right is wearing dark 3 piece suit. He has a Prince Albert type beard and mustache and is also smoking a pipe. His hands are folded together in his lap. The man kneeling in front is wearing pants, a white shirt and suspenders. He has his eyes closed an is smiling. He has a mustache, and is wearing a light colored brimmed hat. The men are sitting in front of a white framed house with a window behind them showing a piece of gauze material covering the window and with the top half folded down. Meyer, Rawlins ,Wyo log imprinted on lower left of inside mat. Attached paper on back: Left to right: Jessie Johnson died Feb 2, 1922. Martin Scheudy dead sitting and above him Emile Kreuger 67 died May 1930 in Muskrats field near Riverton Wyo. Burial made in Denver. Charles Countryman born 7--22 1849 Rockfind Ill. Died July 25 1928 Lander Wyo. Mr. Johnson is buried on old 46 ranch Green Mtns. Mr. Marten Scheudy (sic) [Schute] I think is buried in Casper but not sure. Jessie Johnson mother and his sons are in the family plot on 46 ranch Green Mts. Son Lee Johnson died 1910 or around that year. Henry Johnson died May 1 1950. This notecard is placed in archival folder File Cabinet 3, Drawer 4. Good condition. Ivory colored mat has slight stains and residue of unknown origin. Print has tiny white spots over entire surface from negate process. Unknown iridescent residue on surface in various places with minor scratches on surface. Mat has a tiny tear at corner border. Front flap has gouged area on inside exposing cardboard. Black folder is worn on all edges with tiny nicks along edges and torn spine.
