Interior of Jungquist Store prior to 1900.
Update - 2009: Sepia print. Photo of the inside of mercantile store. Down the right side of the store is a big, long shelving unit. On the top of the shelving unit are different sizes & shapes of metal buckets. There is glassware & other merchandise in the other shelves. There are three bird cages & several other ceramic pots hanging from chains from the ceiling in front of the shelving unit. There are a man & lady clerk standing in front of the shelving unit but behind a long counter. There are some metal pots & glass bowls setting on the top of a part of the counter. Some of the counter has enclosed display cases on top. There is a man in a suit (less jacket) standing in front of the man clerk. Merchandise is also on the floor in front of the counter. On the far back side of the counter & shelves is an office area, with clock & a picture on the wall. Down the left side of the store are stoves & rack with rope, rakes, & other outside tools hooked & hanging from the rack. Front foreground on left side is a shelving unit with small metal containers on top & bottles, metal cups & containers on three shelves below. The bottom has coat hangers & other merchandise. There is a gas lantern hanging above the stoves. There is another man in a suit (less the jacket) standing in front of a stove, located half way down the isle.

Photo shows stains down all sides. All four corners are hazed. Photo is mounted on light matboard. There is a dark stain in upper corner. Back shows stains around edge. Corners of matboard coming apart.

Typed on the back on an adhesive tag: "Interior of the Jungquist Hardware Store. It is believed that this was the first hardware store in Rawlins, Wyoming, located on the corner of Cedar & 5th St. It burned down after the Jungquist store went out of business & there was a meat market there. After the fire which burned several early day businesses, the present store - Miller Building was erected. Picture taken about 1885 or 1890. Rawlins, Wyoming".
