A 10" x 12" black and white photograph mounted on a gray cardboard mat. Actual print is 6" x 8." Photograph is of a flatbed railcar(Chicago ? written on side edge) with the remains of a wrecked locomotive on top. A man dressed in a suit is standing on the side edge of the flatcar and holding on to the huge cylinder remains. He is wearing a hat, has his left hand in his pocket, and is wearing a checked shirt.with tie and white collar. Photograph belonged to donor's husband's father, Fred Mathiesen, who was an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. It is not known who this man shown is. A steam locomotive is at the end of the flat bed.
Update - 2009: Engraved in lower right corner of matboard: "the Ferris Studio, Rawlins, WYO".
Mounted on acidic matboard. Emulsion cracked & paper flaking along crack at center. Badly soiled front & back. Mat warped.Collection
