Description

Sepia tone photograph. Studio portrait of seven men and two boys wearing suits and ties. A typed letter is taped to the back, it reads as follows: Dear Ed: At first, as I said, the first two from left, standing, I knew, and the middle chap sitting, but as I look at it more I can see the other two in the rear and the first one sitting so I am sure they are all from Swede town in Rawlins. The second from left in rear I know worked for H. Larsen and maybe some of the others. The boys I can't place but like you they look familiar. It must have been takin in the early half of the nineties. Every once in awhile a group of Finns, such as these, used to come up from Carbon and Hanna and spent Sunday with some of the Scandinavians in Rawlins but I am sure this group are all old Rawlins Swedes. Swede Town used to be across the tracks in the East end but later spilled up thru the subway to the north side. There was the Danish Brotherhood an the North Star Lodge of Swedes that both looked just like this group. Norwegians were not so many or gropy as the others. By present measurements they are pretty dam good looking boys, all of them. Lou Nelson would know them. J 8-3-1962 Written on the back is "#2144" Curator note - the photograph was donated in a folder labeled "CARBON County Interest".
